How do I determine if I have the latest version of AyaNova service management software?

See what version of AyaNova you have

Simply log into AyaNova and select from the main menu Help -> About AyaNova to see what version of AyaNova you presently have.

If you are running AyaNova 6 or newer, you can also select the menu Check for updates which will check online to see if your AyaNova is the latest version. If not, a web page will open for details on updating to the latest version

As of January 2012 the latest version of each release of AyaNova is:

  • AyaNova 7.2.0.0
  • AyaNova 6.6.0.0
  • AyaNova 5.1.0.0
  • AyaNova 4.2.0.0
  • AyaNova 3.6.0.0
  • AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4

 

What is the difference between HOTFixes, maintenance updates and upgrades?

HOTFixes are individual file replacements to resolve an issue that affects minimal users. And are released so we can continue to release updates out of band without affecting API users or forcing customers to perform a full uninstall and re-install or update unaffected files. HOTFixes are provided free of charge, and have their "file" version changed so that the file version number indicates a hot fix number which is incremented for that file on each hot fix. HOTFixes for specific issues are available via the AyaNova Support Forum Known Issues and Updates section. HOTFixes are rolled into Maintenance updates.

Maintenance updates are also provided free of charge, and provide fixes and new features within the same major version number. For example, all maintenance updates that are for version 6.x such as 6.1 through 6.6 are provided at no charge. Maintenance update steps are always posted in the AyaNova Support Forum Known Issues & Updates

If your present AyaNova is version 6.0 or newer, just select Help -> Check for updates to see if there are any new maintenance updates available

Upgrades are new major versions that are available for existing AyaNova users of recent prior versions to upgrade to at a discounted price.

For example, if you are originally purchased AyaNova version 5 licenses, you can upgrade those schedulable licenses to the latest AyaNova version version 7 at 50% off the regular license price for the same number of schedulable resource licenses, and your optional add-ons are upgraded at no charge.

 

Is there a charge to upgrade from version 6 to version 7?

All of your purchased AyaNova 6 optional add-on's will be upgraded to version 7 at no charge when you upgrade your AyaNova 6 schedulable licenses!

Whether there is a charge or not to upgrade your schedulable resource licenses depends on when you purchased version 6 and if you purchased version 6 with a discount:

A. If you purchased AyaNova 6 schedulable resource licenses paying the regular affordable license price after November 17 2010 - your schedulable resource and optional add-ons licenses will be upgraded to version 7 at no charge!

B. If you purchased AyaNova 6 schedulable resource licenses paying the regular affordable license price more than 60 days from the date of AyaNova 7 release (before November 17 2011), you will be eligible to upgrade your AyaNova 6 schedulable resource licenses to version 7 at 50% discount (your AyaNova 6 optional add-ons and plugins are upgraded to AyaNova 7 at no charge)

C. If you purchased AyaNova 6 schedulable resource licenses with a discount, you are eligible to upgrade those existing AyaNova 6 schedulable resource licenses to AyaNova 7 at a 50% discount (your AyaNova 6 optional add-ons and plugins are upgraded to AyaNova 7 at no charge)

Is there a charge to upgrade from 5.1?

We are happy to also extend the 50% discount upgrade for those that purchased AyaNova version 5 schedulable resource licenses!

Please contact us with a suggested discount to upgrade your existing licenses, and we would be happy to discuss all reasonable suggestions! Our aim is to get you upgraded and using the latest version so you are getting all the benefits. Include the text from your Help -> About AyaNova so we can confirm your existing version and registration.

What are the steps to upgrade to a newer version?

Depends on the version of AyaNova you are upgrading from and what configuration you presently have:

Upgrading from 6.6
Upgrading from 5.1
Upgrading from 4.2
Upgrading from 3.6
Upgrading from CE 1.9.4.4

 

Can I try out the latest AyaNova service management software without affecting my live data?

Yes - you would set up AyaNova 7 service management software and database separately from your existing live older AyaNova.

For example, make a backup of your existing older AyaNova database as per that version's Online Help on Backup and Recovery; and then restore to a different computer configured with AyaNova 7; request a temporary key providing your registered company name and apply to that test setup of AyaNova 7. If any questions, attach a copy of your ayalog.txt file along with your questions in your email to support@ayanova.com

Do note that if you are presently using the very old AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4, the AyaNova 7.x installation defaults to a completely different folder than the AyaNova CE program as well as is a completely different program and accesses a completely different database - so you can install AyaNova 7, request a temporary key, and then test import your AyaNova CE data without affecting your actual live AyaNova CE database.
